SPANISH GRAMMAR FOR THE TEACHING OF
SPANISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE

OBJECTIVE

The presentation of different aspects of Spanish grammar, as viewed from the perspective of teaching the Spanish language to foreigners and, in consequence, analyzed as resources or expression of complex communicative functions.

EVALUATION

To pass the class, students will take the exam on the date fixed by the Faculty. The exam, as well as the class, will be theoretical and practical in nature and the students should be able to demonstrate their capacity to make use of the materials analyzed in class.

PROGRAM

TOPIC 1. The place of grammar in the teaching of a foreign language.
Visualization of grammar. The nexus of Spanish.

TOPIC 2. Situating events in time. / Temporal phrases. Expressing purpose or
intention./ Final phrases. Telling cause, reason, or motive/ Causal
phrases.

TOPIC 3. Making something subject to a condition / Conditional phrases.

TOPIC 4. Drawing conclusions / Consecutive phrases.

TOPIC 5. Indicating to whom or to what we are referring / Relative phrases.

TOPIC 6. Expressing that something is not an obstacle for another /
Phrases of concession.
