Overview

The objective of this course is to study the evolution and characteristics of Seventeenth century paintings paying special attention to the different sections dedicated to the iconography (genres), clientele, sponsorship, and collections. This course studies as well the sociological aspects of the artists and their epoch. The artists covered include: Ribera, Velázquez, Zurbarán, Alonso Cano, Murillo, and Valdés Leal.
