This course gives a general overview of Spanish Geography. Topic [1]: introduction to the Iberian Peninsula and Spain regarding its territorial framework and its situation within the European context. Topic [2]: Physical infrastructure and natural resources: the geomorphologic evolution and construction of the relief, the territorial configuration and organization, atmospheric dynamics and climatic contrasts, pluvial articulation and hydrographic systems, and natural landscapes and biogeographic conditions. Topic [3]: Human potential: the dynamics and structure of the Spanish population, population distribution, and spatial inequalities. Topic [4]: Economic activities and transformation of the medium: problems and characteristics of agriculture and the countryside, geographic importance of fishing, energy and mineral resources, the industrial process and its geographic significance, the communications and transportation system, and the evolution of the city and its urban characteristics. Topic [5]: State, regions, and quality of life: the organization of geographic space in Spain , the integration into the European Community, national income, spatial distribution, and problems of the quality of life.
