Overview

This course concentrates on Islamic presence in the Iberian Peninsula and and specifically in the south of Spain al-Andalus) . Topics to be covered include: origins and development of Islam, customs and history of Islam, history of Islam in Al-Andalus, establishments of the hispano-muslim culture, the hispano-arabic city, linguistics in al-Andalus (arabismos), poetry and prose of the Hispano-Arabic Culture, philosophy and sciences of the Hispano-Arabic Culture, literary and cultural influences of al Andalus, the presence and meaning of Islam in the Iberian peninsula.
