Overview

The main goal of this course is to initiate students in the theoretical and practical knowledge of the possibilities that computers offer in the present day study of specialized thematic cartography. Topics to be covered include: concepts, limits, and functions of cartography, types of thematic maps, geographic information and its cartographic representation, graphic semiotics and cartographic language, computers and cartography: general concepts: digitalization of maps, specialized software in thematic cartography.
