Academic Programs in Salamanca

Students may choose from the following Academic Program options:

Academic Year

There are several year-long options for ISA students in Salamanca. Students of all levels may enroll in the Spanish Language and Culture program. Students with a more advanced Spanish language level may also consider the Hispanic Studies and Individualized Studies with Spaniards program options which offer courses covering a wide variety of topics in addition to language and culture courses.

Semester / Trimester

Students who would like to study abroad for a semester or a trimester in Salamanca have several options. There are two trimester program options for students in Salamanca. One option is the Spanish Language and Culture program in which students who place into the beginning language level will focus on language acquisition while students with higher levels of Spanish will be able to study various culture-related topics in addition to language. Students with an advanced Spanish level may also consider the Hispanic Studies trimester program option, in which students focus on various aspects of the Spanish culture, such as language, history, literature, art history, geography, and politics. Students who are very proficient in the Spanish language should also consider the Individualized Studies with Spaniards semester program in which ISA students take courses with local Spanish students.

Summer

Salamanca's summer programs are available to students of all levels of Spanish proficiency. Students may attend language and culture classes for one summer session or may choose to study language and culture all summer in Salamanca.

Intensive Month

ISA offers intensive month programs throughout the year, open to students of all levels of Spanish proficiency. Students may choose to study for just one month or they may enroll in several consecutive terms. The focus of the intensive month programs is language, although higher-level Spanish students may take additional courses in culture, literature, and history.
