The following activities are often available in San Sebastián, offering opportunities for students to participate and learn about local Spanish and Basque cultures:
Students will be led on an evening tapa tour. Tapas, otherwise know as "pintxos" in Basque, are a delicious cultural element and source of regional pride. Students can sample regional delicacies, often containing fresh seafood and vegetables, in the many tapas bars in Parte Vieja.
Students will climb Monte Igueldo for an incredible view of the Playa de La Concha (Beach of the Conch), named for the beach's horseshoe shape. The panoramic view showcases the intricate architecture of San Sebastián and is the perfect place to catch a sunset.
At the University of Deusto, ISA students can participate in university-sponsored events and programs, where they can meet both local and international students. An "intercambio" (language exchange) is also a great way for students to practice their Spanish, help a Spanish student learn English, and make lasting friendships.
Outdoor opportunities are plenty in and around San Sebastian, and students often enjoy watersports, hiking, biking, and exploring the natural beauty of the region. The pleasant summer climate offers the perfect setting to discover nature.
