This course is designed for students who have completed or tested out of a minimum of 2 upper-division college-level Spanish courses. However, students must take a placement exam to determine the course level into which they will be able to enroll.

b) From Traditional to Modern art: a mixture of cultures.
c) Spanish art within the most important European artistic movements.
d) Spanish art and its image abroad.

2) A plural country: the works of art and their context
a) Eight centuries of Arabic influence in Spanish art.
b) Classic Romanesque art: the pilgramage to and the site of Santiago de Compostela.
c) The cathedrals of Castile and Leon.
d) Plateresque style in Salamanca.
e) Velazquez: a universal painter in Madrid.
f) Gaudí's work in Barcelona.
g) Picasso: a painter from Málaga with international renown.
h) Dalí and his Figueres' museum.

3) Artistic works as a reflection of reality.
a) Spanish spirituality as depicted in images.
b) The magic of the Middle Ages.
c) The rational dream produces monsters: Goya and his time.
d) A change in Spanish mentality: Dalí and Miró.
