The Summer 1 Program provides courses in all levels of Spanish. Beginning-level students are required to take both Beginning Level Spanish Language 1 and 2. They may then choose another beginning-level course taught in Spanish, or any course instructed in English. Intermediate-level students may choose one of the following options: both Intermediate Spanish Language A and B, OR 2 courses taught in Spanish and/or English. Students may not pair Intermediate Spanish Language B with any course other than Intermediate Spanish Language A. Students with an advanced-level of Spanish have the opportunity to select two courses from a list consisting of language, culture, literature, or any course instructed in English. Students will be in classes with other ISA students.

All students must take a Spanish language placement exam upon arrival in Sevilla. The exam will indicate each student's language proficiency level, and will determine the courses in which the student is eligible to enroll. Students who arrive in Spain having completed less than one year of college-level Spanish will likely place into beginning level courses. Students who arrive in Spain having completed one full year of college-level Spanish will likely place into the intermediate level courses. Students who arrive in Spain having completed two years of college-level Spanish will likely place into advanced level courses.

Minimum GPA

Students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.50.
