Overview

The participants of this course will study the origins of the inequality, racial prejudice, and poverty that is a reality for so many people in Latin America and the Caribbean today. They will explore the ancient African traditions that strongly exist currently, such as: Music, clothing, and religious beliefs (like voodoo). This course will also offer a global perspective of the phenomenon of slavery from the beginning to the abolition of such a "peculiar institution".
