OBJECTIVE
The objective of this course is to instruct the student about the necessary linguistic tools needed to partake and interact in daily situations in the Spanish language.
PROGRAM
TOPIC 1--The alphabet. The verb ser. Articles. Grammatical gender and number: agreement. Interrogatives (qué, cuál, dónde, cuándo,cómo, cuántos)
TOPIC 2--Regular present. Tú and Usted. Possessive adjectives. Reflexive pronouns.
TOPIC 3--Irregular present. Adjectives and demonstrative pronouns. Expressions of frequency.
TOPIC 4--Contrast ser and estar. Prepositions and adverbs of place. Difference between está/hay. Estar + gerund. Comparatives and superlatives. Quantifiers: muy, bastante… Possessive pronouns.
TOPIC 5--The past: preterit perfect. Verbs gustar, encantar, doler: form and syntax.
TOPIC 6--The past: indefinite preterit. Regular and irregular verbs. Adjectives and indefinite pronouns.
TOPIC 7--IR a + infinitive. Periphrasis of obligation. The future imperfect.
TOPIC 8--The past: preterit imperfect. Pronouns of direct object and indirect object. Prepositions.
TOPIC 9--Pluperfect preterit. Contrast of tenses in the indicative past.
TOPIC 10--Present subjunctive.

Attendance is mandatory.
LEVEL CHANGES
Changes of level may only be made during the first week of the course.
