High Advanced

This course is designed for students who have completed or tested out of a minimum of five semesters (or seven quarters) of college-level Spanish. However, students must take a placement exam to determine the course level into which they will be able to enroll.

OBJECTIVES
The aim of this Course is to improve, and develop further, students’ communication skills, paying attention to key issues affecting the Grammar of Spanish. Methodologocally it will be based on ensuring a knowledge of the rules of Grammar, together with their practical application by means of specific activities to be carried out.

4. The Verb Phrase.
Verb Conjugation System. Irregular Verbs.
Expressing the Past.
The Future and the Conditional.
The Indicative and the Subjunctive.
The Verbs ser and estar.

5. Prepositions.
Presence and Absence of the Preposition a.
Por / para.
Other Prepositions.

6. The Complex Sentence.
Sentence Coordination. Types.
Sentence Subordination. Types.
The Use of Conjunctions with Verb Forms.

ASSESSMENT
On-going assignments will be graded, while regular attendance and active participation in class sessions will also be taken into account. Moreover, two exams will be set, one mid-way through the semester and the other at its close.
