Overview

OBJECTIVE
To learn and develop language skills in daily situations.

PROGRAM:

TOPIC 1--GREETINGS AND FAREWELLS
Introducing oneself. Spelling and selecting words. Numbers.

TOPIC 2--TELLING TIME AND PERSONAL INFORMATION
Giving and telling the time. Common responses to everyday events. Asking about and discussing profession.

TOPIC 3--DESCRIPTIONS
Talking about family. Physically describing a person. Talking about a person's character.

TOPIC 4--TALKING ON THE TELÉPHONE
Beginning a telephone conversation.

TOPIC 5-HOW ARE YOU?
Asking how someone else feels and how you yourself feel. Expressing pain.

TOPIC 6--SHOPPING
Going shopping. Saying how clothes look on a person. Asking for items in a store. Asking about prices. Expressing preferences.

TOPIC 7--RESTAURANT
Asking for service in a restaurant. Talking about food.

TOPIC 8--MY HOUSE
Describing a house. Discussing what is in a room. Expressing the location of items in a room. Writing informal letters.

TOPIC 9--CONGRATULATIONS!
Congratulating someone. Giving and receiving gifts. Talking about the weather.

TOPIC 10--GOING TO THE MOVIES
Movie and cinema vocabulary. Discussing plans and projects. Asking for and giving advice.

TOPIC 11--ARRANGING TO MEET WITH SOMEONE
Vocabulary for arranging to meet with someone. Making suggestions. Accepting and rejecting invitations.

ATTENDANCE
Attendance is mandatory.

CHANGES
Changes in level may only occur during the first week of the course. No course changes are permitted once the second week of class has begun.
