Overview

The objective of this course is to analyse the aims and progress of the Euro Mediterranean partnership, signed under the Barcelona Declaration of 1995, and to evaluate the impact of the integration of the southern and eastern Mediterranean countries, (Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Mrocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria, Tunisia and Turkey), into an economic partnership with the European Union resulting in tariff elimination and the creation of a massive Euro-Mediterranean free trade area. Special attention will be given to the MEDA financial agreement, the European Neighbourhood Policy and the possible impact of this process on world trade, world security and a better understanding between cultures.
