Students may choose between the following Program Terms:

Spanish Language & Literature - University of Valencia

This program offers intermediate and advanced level courses in language, culture, history, art, and literature. Program participants will be in class with other ISA students. All classes are taught in Spanish by faculty from the host university.

All students must take a Spanish language placement exam upon arrival in Valencia. The exam will indicate each student's language proficiency level, and may determine the courses in which the student is eligible to enroll. Students who arrive in Spain having completed the equivalent of one year of college-level Spanish will likely place into intermediate-level courses. Students who arrive in Spain having completed the equivalent of two years or more of college-level Spanish will likely place into advanced-level courses. Please note that ISA cannot guarantee course placement.

Spanish Language & Electives in English - Florida State University-Valencia Study Center

This program offers Spanish Language courses for beginning, intermediate and advanced level students in addition to electives in English. The curriculum includes courses in grammar, Spanish culture, as well as a number of content courses instructed in English. Classmates are international students, the majority of whom are North Americans. All students will receive an official transcript from Florida State University. All students must take a Spanish language placement exam upon arrival in Valencia.

Gap Year Students: If accepted to this program as a Gap Year student, you will be classified as a special (non-degree seeking) student. After completion of this program, if you were to apply for degree-seeking status at the Florida State University, up to 15 semester hours earned as a special student may be applied toward an undergraduate degree only with the approval of the appropriate dean at the time of reclassification.
