Cuenca is known for its spectacular 15th Century “Casas Colgadas” [Hanging Houses] that appear suspended over the cliff’s edge and overlook the deep ravine of the Huecar River. Just north of Cuenca is the geological phenomenon known as “Ciudad Encantada” [Enchanted City], which is a fantastic labyrinth of oddly-shaped eroded rocks.
