Resident Director

ISA's full-time resident directors assist students with all aspects of their living and university experiences abroad. Working 9:00am -8:00pm during the week, on-site directors arrange excursions, weekly meetings, cultural activities, and much more. Most program sites have more than one on-site director.

On-site ISA Office

Most of our programs have offices on site. Students have free access to computers and internet. Most of our offices include wireless internet access as well. The on-site office offers both the students and parents a source of comfort and security while abroad and serves as a common meeting point for the students. This is also where students can pick up their mail. Here are a list of ISA office locations where wireless internet access is available: Argentina (Buenos Aires), Chile (Valparaiso), Costa Rica (San Jose), France (Paris), Italy (Rome and Florence), Mexico (Guanajuato and Xalapa) and Spain (Barcelona, Granada, Madrid, Malaga, Salamanca, Sevilla, and Valencia)

Medical Insurance

Medical insurance is provided during the official on-site period of the program. Extended insurance coverage is available for an additional fee.

Cultural Activities

In order to maximize cultural immersion, the ISA program staff develops unique cultural activities. These custom-designed activities invite students to experience the local color of their host city, while learning about the history and culture of their new surroundings. Speaking the native language with locals, tasting the regional cuisine, and partaking in the native traditions are just a few of the ways these cultural activities lead to full appreciation of the program city.

Excursions

Ground transportation, entrance fees, and guided tours are included on all ISA excursions. Hotel accommodations and breakfast are included on all overnight excursions. Excursions are not included on Intensive Month programs. Although most other programs do include excursions, some may have no excursions, or optional excursions provided at an extra cost. Please refer to the individual session information for details.

Airport Reception

Transportation is provided from the airport for students who arrive during the ISA-designated pick-up times. Return transportation to the airport is provided for those students who return on the final day of the program. Return transportation to the airport is not provided for ISA England programs. Airport reception is not provided for Intensive Month programs.

Tutoring

Tutoring is offered to students participating on language acquisition programs. This service is arranged by the on-site directors and should be scheduled in advance.

Cellular Phone Advising

If a student desires a cell phone while abroad, some information regarding use and purchase of phones will be provided before departure. Once students arrive to their program destination, they will be provided with more detailed information on the variety of cell phones available during their on-site orientation. There are many cell phone providers available in the host country. ISA encourages program participants to research their options and choose the best provider to meet their needs.

Optional Costs

Extended Medical Insurance

Students can extend their medical insurance beyond their program start and end dates for $25 per week.
