A Railpass is a must-have for anyone planning to travel to more than one country while in Europe. You should get a single country pass only if you plan to spend most of your time traveling within its borders. Rail Europe offers passes for travel within specific countries and also offers you the option of driving and riding the rails. Since there are a variety of passes available, it is important to determine which pass is most suited to your specific needs.

For those who will be under the age of 26 on the first day of travel, a Youthpass is the best option. The Eurail Select Pass lets you choose 3-5 bordering countries from a list of 22 European nations. The Flexipass offers travel to 18 different European countries. Don't be frightened by "second-class travel." Most second-class sections are very comfortable and provide the perfect atmosphere to meet other students from all over the world.

You can insure your EURAIL PASS for $14.00. We strongly recommend that you purchase the RAIL PROTECTION PLAN (RPP) because without it, if your pass gets stolen, misplaced or lost, you will not be refunded nor will the pass be replaced. For single country passes the RAIL PROTECTION PLAN is only $10.00. With the RPP you may be reimbursed for travel after the loss of a pass if you follow the strict RPP guidelines found on the RPP brochure. Please note that once the pass is issued only a pass that has NOT BEEN VALIDATED can be returned for a refund. All passes must be validated within 6 months of issuance in order to be valid. There is a 15% refund penalty on all passes. Passes must be submitted to the issuing office within 1 year of issuance for a refund to be processed.
