COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course content for Intermediate French 1 is the continuation of introductory courses (Beginning 1 and 2). Based upon the four essential means of language acquisition, through reading, writing, listening and speaking, the course gives a review and expansion of topics involving cultural competence and the structure of the French language. Since people come into this course from a wide variety of backgrounds, a systematic and thorough grammar review is undertaken as additional topics are introduced and practiced. Intermediate French 1 focuses more specifically on vocabulary acquisition, phrases, grammatical rules and structures. Listening and oral exercises will be more heavily relied upon in order to help instill French fluency.
COURSE OBJECTIVESThe aim of this course is to fortify many of the concepts learned in Beginning French1 and 2 through oral and listening drills. Furthermore diverse phrasal expressions will be introduced along with grammatical structures which will give students the beginnings of fluency. By the end of this course students should be able to hold basic conversations in French.
