    COURSE PREREQUISITES

    Intermediate French 1 and/or on-site language placement test.

    Availability of courses is based on enrollment numbers. All students should seek pre-approval for alternate courses in the event of last minute class cancellations.

    COURSE DESCRIPTION

    In this course you will review, consolidate and expand the skills acquired in Beginning French 1, Beginning French 2 and Intermediate French 1. Based upon the four essential means of language acquisition, through reading, writing, listening and speaking, the course gives a review and expansion of topics involving cultural competence and the structure of the French language.The course will sharpen your capacity to read and write in French and work hard on enriching your vocabulary. Intermediate French 2 focuses more specifically on vocabulary acquisition, phrases, grammatical rules and structures.  Listening and oral exercises will be more heavily relied upon in order to help instill French fluency.

     

    COURSE OBJECTIVES

    By the end of the course, you will have improved your spoken French, deepened your understanding of French grammar, and gained fluency in listening activities. After completing Intermediate French 2, you should be able to express yourself with some comfort using series of sentences, both orally and in writing, in order to sustain a topic or to give personal information related to self, family, home, daily activities, interests and personal preferences, as well as physical and social needs, such as food, shopping, travel, and lodging.
