    Students will take four courses simultaneously at this level: “Advanced Integrated Course I”, “Advanced Oral Course II”, “Advanced Listening Course II”, and “Intermediate Newspaperreading Course II”.

    Advanced Integrated Course I
    This class is designed for students who have studied Chinese for at least two years or have a command of 3500-4000 vocabulary words. Larger importance will be attached to strengthening students’ capability of understanding more complicated language materials and presenting their opinions on some professional topics with some communicative strategies. Course 2-5 will cover lessons 1-8 in the textbook. Students will learn approximately 400 new vocabulary words, their meaning, when and how to use them, and will be exposed to more complicated grammatical structures compared to what the students learn in the intermediate level classes.

    Advanced Oral Course II
    The focus of this course is on gaining better communication skills with a higher level of accuracy and fluency. Lessons 1-8 in the textbook will be covered. Students will be trained to present their opinions in paragraphs on extensive topics, such as wedlock validation, workaholic, discrimination, etc. After successful completion of this course, students will start to think in Chinese language in communication.

    Advanced Listening Course II
    In this course, students will study more complicated materials, such as Chinese short stories. They will begin to listen to paragraphs in written language. Lessons 1-14 in the textbook will be covered. Students’ capability will be strengthened to understand basic facts and key points in listening materials. It will be easier for them to understand the speaker’s intention, opinion and argumentation. They will be able to understand news and interviews at a normal or a little bit faster speed.

    Intermediate Newspaper-reading Course II
    This is an extensive reading course for students who have acquired Chinese reading skills at an intermediate level. It aims at cultivating students’ ability to read news and other articles on internet. Students will be able to understand certain vocabulary, complicated sentence structures and the style feature of news. Units 1-6 in the textbook will be covered. After successful completion of this course, students will be able to read a news article of 1000-1700 word individually.
