This course focuses on how companies foster ideas and apply knowledge in order to generate innovations that lead to business opportunities. The creation of something new that also has practical benefit has become one of the most important goals for companies; yet, attaining this goal is very challenging. In this course, students learn about management tools and strategies that are used by innovative companies. Weekly group activities and a teamwork assignment are used to help students acquire practical skills that can be transferred to the work environment.
The topics are introduced in lectures, and key concepts and theories are then exercised with group assignments. These group assignments aim at building the skills for practical application of the material. Additionally, the students are asked to write a team report and prepare and conduct a team presentation related to the topics. The course concludes with a final exam that evaluates student assimilation of the material in a holistic way.
