This course aims to provide a comprehensive picture of Chinese economy. Five general topic groups will be covered, including history of the Chinese economy, a general discussion of economic transition, macroeconomic issues, financial system, and China in the world economy. Students will also have the opportunities to visit a few representative companies to deepen their understandings of Chinese economy. Finally, a group project allows students to research on topics related to Chinese economy and develop teamwork spirits, communication skills, and leadership.
After this course, students shall obtain a thorough understanding of Chinese economy, as well as gain the skills to find relevant data and form opinions. Preferably, students may find their interested topics for the future research.
