Course Overview:
The goal of this course is to help you develop the ability to apply basic economic concepts to a variety of social issues and identify the efficiency implications of various policy options. When you have completed this course, you should be able to do the following:
- Define, explain, and use key economic concepts
- Discuss how the economic way of thinking applies to current events
- Use basic economic principles to analyze policy alternatives designed to address current issues at the local, regional or national level
- Critically evaluate the claims of politicians and other policy makers regarding the effects of their proposals to address specific issues and controversies
