Overview of the ecological systems of Southeast Asia, and discusses the current impacts and potential threats to the ecosystems; the protected area system and its role in protecting intact ecosystems, in the conservation of biological diversity, in providing ecological services, and as a key component of ecotourism; relationship between ecosystem protection and sustainable development, and the international conventions that relate to ecosystem protection; ecofriendly guidelines for
developers and planners.
