  • Overview

    Course Description

    This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge related to the role of CAD/CAM within your program stream. This will include Fashion Design and Technology and Fashion Merchandise Management. 

    You will study the ways of design, development, manufacturing and retail technologies integrate with digital communication and information applications used in Textile Technology, Fashion Technology, Retail and Merchandising Management. 



    Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development

    In this course you will develop the following program learning outcomes:

    a) Problem solve effectively in a fashion and textiles enterprise.

    b) Apply analytical decision making techniques in a fashion and textiles environment.

    c) Apply sustainable practises related to fashion and textiles issues.


    Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

    a) Evaluate and apply CAD/CAM or business software and related devices to produce digital graphic and hard copy formats that effectively communicate information across designated levels of the fashion and textiles supply chain.

    b) Compare and contrast between standard and dedicated CAD/CAM software/hardware systems and explain their integrated use within textile, fashion, and merchandising contexts.

    c) Explain and advise on issues regarding CAD/CAM and related software applications in a fashion and textile context.


    Overview of Learning Activities

    You will learn key concepts and the application of through lectures, group discussions and practical project work.

    This course is project based, focused on the areas of textile design and development, fashion apparel design and development, retail, merchandising and product management.
