Through this course you will learn to develop fashion designs within specified guidelines and how to present the concepts to your client(s). You will learn how market research can assist you to identify opportunities to improve the performance or outcomes of a fashion and textiles product and identify opportunities for product development. Quality theories and concepts, systems and assurance processes will also be explored. This course includes a range of industry related activities such as lectures from industry professionals or visits to factories. Guest speakers could range from production personnel, design managers, finance managers to recent graduates. This course is designed to enable you to apply your academic learning to a contemporary workplace situation.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
In this course you will develop the following program learning outcomes:
a) Apply sustainable practices related to fashion and textiles issues.
b) Identify, research, analyse and manage emerging global issues and trends in the fashion and textiles industry.
c) Conceptualise, integrate and organise information in order to resolve complex issues related to fashion and textiles product development.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
a) Identify and discuss the social and cultural needs for a range of target markets.
b) Invetigate and interpret trends in fashion and textiles either locally or globally.
c) Investigate and analyse client needs for fashion products.
d) Investigate sourcing to meet cultural and social needs of the target market.
e) Develop fashion and textiles products and present to peers or potential clients.
