In this course you will explore how meaning is expressed through visuals. You will apply these principles of visual literacy to design effective visual communication. You will investigate the ways in which meaning can be represented with imagery. You will apply techniques for creating and manipulating images, and incorporating these into digital media.
You will also investigate intellectual property and copyright as it relates to your own and your clients’ work.

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Investigate and discuss how images are used to represent meaning and communicate messages effectively.
- Develop strong visual narratives for use with other design elements.
- Apply digital editing and processing techniques to enhance and transform images.
- Examine and discuss principles of intellectual and copyright when generating content.

Use digital media technologies to design, produce and evaluate content, and communicate to diverse stakeholders.
Analyse, synthesise and reflect on digital media in both local and international contexts in your work or future study.

Overview of Assessment
You will be assessed on how well you meet the course’s learning outcomes and on your development against the program learning outcomes.
Assessments for this course will be:
Comparative analysis of IP and Copyright issues (25%)
Review/presentation of Key Visual Literacy Topics (25%)
Transformation project, image and message (50%)
Feedback will be given on all assessment tasks.
