DESCRIPTION:
The U.S. role in world affairs since the Spanish-American war. Interaction between domestic politics and other forces that influence the conduct of American foreign policy.RATIONALE:
The contemporary role of the U.S. as a global power and its impact on Europe and the world necessitate this course.LEARNING OUTCOMES:
As a result of taking this course, the student should be able to:
1. Explain the role of the U.S. and interpret America's position in contemporary world affairs.
2. Outline the factors contributing to U.S. involvement in Europe.
3. Evaluate these factors within the broader context of world politics.
4. Analyze contemporary international problems in connection with the emergence of globalizationMETHOD OFTEACHING AND LEARNING:
In congruence with the teaching and learning strategy of the college, the following tools are used:
- Lectures and class discussions.
- Office hours: students are encouraged to make full use of the office hours of their lecturer, where they can address issues and ask questions pertinent to the course material.
- Use of a blackboard site, where instructors post lecture notes, assignment instructions, timely announcements, as well as additional resources.
- Use of library facilities: Students are encouraged to make use of the library facilities for further study as well as for preparation for the exams.
