OverviewModule Objective: To introduce how the brain and neurotransmitters influence various aspects of behaviour. To examine modern neuroscientific research techniques including the theory and methods of psychophysiological recording. To examine illnesses associated with degeneration of the brain and neurons.
Module Content: The biological basis of rudimentary and complex issues such as stress, sleep, learning and memory. The autonomic nervous system. The measurement of autonomic arousal. Neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. Neurotransmitters, chemistry and receptor type. Modern neuroscientific techniques.

Credits earned vary according to the policies of the students' home institutions. According to ISA policy and possible visa requirements, students must maintain full-time enrollment status, as determined by their home institutions, for the duration of the program.
ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) credits are converted to semester credits/quarter units differently among U.S. universities. Students should confirm the conversion scale used at their home university when determining credit transfer.
