  • Overview

    The purpose of this module is to familiarise students with the fundamentals of psychology and sociology of human behaviour in a variety of organisational contexts. People in the organization behave differently, and don?t always behave the way you think they will. As a result, your ability to understand, explain, and predict different human behaviours within organizations is a required and valuable skill for your career. This module is designed to expose you to important theories and conceptual models for analyzing, understanding, and managing human behaviours within organizations from individual, group/team, organizational and external environmental perspectives. In this course, we will study a wide range of organizational situations and examples of human behaviours including personality, motivation, attitudes, teams and communication, leadership, conflict and negotiation, organizational structure and culture, human resource and change management, and international OB.

    Learning Outcomes:

    On successful completion of the module, students should be able to:
    -Impart a theoretical understanding of the nature of individual and group behaviours within organizations.
    -Explain and predict behaviour of people at work using organisational behaviour theories and concepts.
    -Cultivate their abilities and skills in critical thinking, verbal discussion and debate, teamwork, and decision making.
    -Develop practical skills in applying such knowledge towards improving the effectiveness of an organization.

    Continuous Assessment: 40%
    University scheduled written examination: 60%
