  • Overview

    To provide an introduction to the area of structured exercise instruction. To provide an opportunity to develop instructional skills necessary for the delivery of structured exercise sessions.

    Learning Outcomes
    1. Explain the difference between structured and lifestyle physical activity.
    2. Identify the procedures involved in the full screening process and outline the guidelines for referral.
    3. Demonstrate –both theoretically and practically- how to adapt an exercise session, and design an exercise programme for a variety of population groups e.g. beginners (good health), pregnant clients etc.
    4. Plan and teach effective and safe circuit training, body resistance and flexibility sessions, demonstrating good personal technique and strong class management skills.
