Overview
Description
The purpose of this module is to increase the effectiveness of sport and exercise scientists in facilitating (i) physical activity adoption and/or maintenance through a brief intervention, and (ii) design of a training programme for sport based on scientific evidence.Learning Outcomes
1. understand adherence issues in physical activity
2. use theoretical models of behaviour change to advise individuals on modifying their physical activity behaviour
3. carry out a full exercise consultation
4. incorporate what they have learned into their work practice
5. detail the theory relating to a needs analysis, physiological testing, injury prevention and physical training for a chosen sport
6. demonstrate effectiveness in working as part of a group
