  • Overview

    This module aims to present current concepts and practical skills relating to prevetion and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries to the spine, upper limbs and lower limbs for the Atheltic Therapist and Trainer as part of the multidisciplinary team. Methods to increase joint range of motion, flexibility, proprioception, strength, endurance and power will be explained, demonstrated and practised. Topics and methods relating to fitness testing, sports specific rehabilitation and return to play decisions will also be included. 

    Learning Outcomes
    1. identify the components of a comprehensive plan of care for an injured physically active individual acting as a member of the multidisciplinary team.
    2. develop a progressive exercise program to, include but not limited to, improving range of motion, neuromuscular control and muscular strength, endurance and power
    3. develop home exercise programmes
    4. Develop activity specific end stage rehabilitation programmes
    5. determine the ability of a patient to return to physical activity
