  • Overview

    Society needs to broaden its bounderies and embrace the ideas of diversity allowing access and equality for all. On the other hand people in marginalised groups need to take responsibility to work towards getting their needs met by forming relevant advocacy and pressure groups. This module will enable students make connections with concepts and strategies that will advance their nursing skills in caring for people from marginalised groups. Students taking part will consider how health care professionals can respond to faciliate inclusion within their branch of nursing. 

    Learning Outcomes
    1. Debate theoretical perspectives and policies on inclusion.
    2. Examine inclusion research.
    3. Identify barriers and enablers to inclusion in the student s defined area of practice.
    4. Evaluate their own attitudes and beliefs about people from marginalised groups.
    5. Evaluate strategies that work towards inclusion in the health and social sectors within Europe.
