The objective of this course is to develop in students a formative understanding of business software development and programming techniques and approaches. Topics may include: visual and object-oriented software development languages and integrated development environments; software application development for Windows and the Web; principles and concepts of software design; user interface design; software testing and debugging; writing code; data types; variables and constants; arithmetic and relational operators; procdures and functions; emerging issues. In addition to lectures there may also be scheduled laboratory hands-on sessions.

Credits earned vary according to the policies of the students' home institutions. According to ISA policy and possible visa requirements, students must maintain full-time enrollment status, as determined by their home institutions, for the duration of the program.
ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) credits are converted to semester credits/quarter units differently among U.S. universities. Students should confirm the conversion scale used at their home university when determining credit transfer.
