This seminar will examine, in detail, some examples of Shakespearean Comedy. Shakespeare?s comedies end in marriage: however, many trials and obstacles have to be overcome along the way. We shall explore the complex issues raised on the journey towards a so-called happy ending. Recommended (not obligatory) text: RSC William Shakespeare Complete Works ed. Jonathan Bate and Eric Rasmussen. Plays: A Midsummer Night?s Dream, As You Like It, Twelfth Night, Measure For Measure.
Assessment: 15% class presentation write up, 15% for a minor essay, and 70% for the final essay.

Credits earned vary according to the policies of the students' home institutions. According to ISA policy and possible visa requirements, students must maintain full-time enrollment status, as determined by their home institutions, for the duration of the program.
ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) credits are converted to semester credits/quarter units differently among U.S. universities. Students should confirm the conversion scale used at their home university when determining credit transfer.
