  • Overview

Leonardo Da Vinci: artist, engineer and genius, he is the model of the Renaissance artist. In this class we are going to discover his personal and professional life, studying the secrets of his talent and debunking the countless fake legends about him. Moreover, because of his personal and professional life, Leonardo is the perfect character to understand the Renaissance itself: walking on his footprints we are going to discover one of the most fascinating eras of human history.

To address these topics, a body of literature will be surveyed and, in addition to the theoretical contents, the course will envisage sessions of urban observation, tracking the remains of Leonardo’s period and work. The course will - in fact - consist of a mix of lessons and field trips, trying to underline the special connection between Leonardo Da Vinci and Milan, the city where he became the famous artist we still talk about today.

After his life and his work, we are going to pay attention to his posthumous glamour because Leonardo - famous and celebrated already during his lifetime - became a true legend in the next centuries.
