    Training objectives of the course

    After completing this course, the student will:
    ‒ know and understand theories and concepts related to information systems;
    ‒ comprehend new digital trends and innovative ICTs (Information and Communication Technologies) supporting online e-commerce, marketing and communication processes;
    ‒ discern digital tools for designing effective business communication processes;
    ‒ interpret new digital trends in the fields of information systems, e-commerce, marketing and advertising;
    ‒ design and develop digital communication processes as well as use methods for measuring their effectiveness.

    Course programme

    The course's main content, in line with the general aims described above, is related to the use of information systems, ICTs and new digital trends for supporting marketing, advertising and online communication.
    In detail, the topics covered will be as follows:
    ‒ digital convergence
    ‒ the role of ICTs (Information and Communication Technologies) in Information Systems
    ‒ main digital trends: cloud computing, social media, Internet of Things, mobile, artificial intelligence and Big Data
    ‒ hardware, software and computer networks, data and database
    ‒ internet and e-business models
    ‒ ICT security and ethics
    ‒ the role of ICT in communication processes
    ‒ the role of ICT in the marketing and advertising fields
    ‒ social media marketing, analytics, and search and display advertising

    Didactic Methods

    In line with the learning outcomes of the course, the lessons will be organized in:
    ‒ lectures;
    ‒ case study-based discussion;
    ‒ critical discussions about the topics covered.

    The course will use an online community to share information and materials. 

    Learning assessment procedures

    The student’s level of learning will be assessed as follows:
    ‒ theoretical exam through a computer-based test with 30 multiple-choice questions;
    ‒ oral exam.

    The final mark will be the average of the written and oral exams out of a maximum of 30.
