    Thematic in approach, this interdisciplinary course introduces students to the major literary, social, cultural, artistic, and intellectual trends in Italy from the Middle Ages to the Present. Specific reference will be made to Medieval and Renaissance Italy as the center of culture in Europe, the Risorgimento, the Fascist regime, and the Italian miracle of the post-war period. In addition, the course examines the social transformations of a new multicultural Italy, the American cultural domination, and the Italian women's movement.
