To provide a detailed account of the application of remote sensing techniques and geographic information systems in Earth Sciences.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students will be able to:
Visualize geospatial data in a range of GIS environments and explain the difference between vector and raster images
Import base maps and georeferenced data to a GIS environment and manipulate different layers of data
Perform routine statistical analyses on geospatial data in a GIS environment (ArcGIS or equivalent).
Visualise and interpret remotely sensed data such as satelitte image and aeromagnetic data.
Explain the acquisition and interpretation of InSAR and GPS data.
Use Digital Elevation Models and aerial photography to analyse and intepret landforms
