Overview
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This class aims at familiarising the students with some of the topics related to linguistic diversity across the globe. In this class the students will address some of the fundamental topics in the field of General Linguistics as a communication science.During the course students will:
- Learn about the human language, the most perfected system of signs that surround us, as a complete and constantly evolving system.
- Study how a language lives, how it is constructed, why languages differ so greatly, how and why they change, how they are related and how and why they disappear.
- Discuss the dignity of languages, the judgments and intrinsic characteristics that exist about some of them.
- Explore Universal Linguistics and analyze the relationship between language and people’s vision of the World.
