    1. What is a text? Writer, author, and speaker. The written medium.

    2. Non-literary texts. General characteristics of the specific language used through textual commentary.
    2.1 Expository text: technical, scientific, legal, administrative and historic
    2.2 Texts of journalism and opinion, and informative and analytical texts
    2.3 The essay
    2.4 Advertising language
    2.5 The comic and the graphic joke.

    3. Historic approach to the reading of literary works. The poetic language.
    3.1 Tradition and modernity: popular lyric and introduction to classic poetry of the 20th century
    3.2 Tradition and modernity: classic narration and contemporary story
    3.3 The novel of the 20th century

    4. The commentary of literary texts: methodological introduction
    4.1 The literary genres
    4.2 How does one distinguish a good work from a bad one? Literary critique and interpretation.
    4.3 Types of text in prose: description, narration, dialogue, monologue
    4.4 Voices of the story. The perspective. The characters
    4.5 The narrative?s linguistic means
    4.6 Autobiographical text and letters as part of the novel.
    4.7 Comedy.
    4.8 The structure of the novel. The title. Contemporary subgenres.

    4.11 The evolution of the Spanish poetic evolution during the 20th century
