Overview
General Description:
This course includes topics such as intermolecular forces, chemical kinetics, equilibrium, acids and bases, elementary thermodynamics, and electrochemistry. To this end, both theory and exercises will be combined in order to support the understanding of concepts. You will be expected to carry on class discussions and do several writing assignments. Thus, your ACTIVE PARTICIPATION is required. Objectives:
This course continues the previous General Chemistry 1045 course. In this course, students will be able to focus on some aspects of organic and inorganic chemistry that were only presented in the fall term of the chemistry course. It is important to point out that, although the first part of the course (fall term) will help students to succeed in this course, students without attending the previous chemistry course will follow this new chemistry course. The class will be plenty of examples and real cases (design in industries, biology matters and so on) and exercises will be combined with theory.Evaluation:
Homework 25%
Class Performance 15%
Presentation and Speech 25%
Exams 35%*This course has a lab associated with it, CHEM1046 - General Chemistry II Lab
