  • Overview

    COURSE OBJECTIVE
    1. Acquire advanced knowledge of ethics.
    2. Learn to carefully analyse moral dilemmas concerning new technologies, and defend your own view in a paper.

    COURSE CONTENT
New technologies (e.g. systems for detecting illnesses, criminal behavior, selecting the best employees, your news feed, the ads you see,
tracking infected people, etc.) take over the world. These technologies better meet moral standards, but which?

In this course, we will read primary texts on the latest statements of the main theories in ethics (including contractualism, consequentialism,
Kantian ethics, and theories of well-being), and utilize these to analyse moral dilemmas concerning new technologies (think of issues such as digital privacy and online manipulation).

At the same time, you will work on your research and writing skills (needed for a Bachelor thesis in practical philosophy).
