  • Overview

This course studies the performance of structures and mechanical systems. Basic concepts such as stress, strain and mechanical properties are covered in order to evaluate the load-carrying capacity of a system.

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

    1. Calculate stresses and strains in structural elements subjected to simple/combined loadings.
    2. Identify critical sections in structural elements subjected to combined loadings.
    3. Compute deflections in beams and shafts.
