Overview
Course description:
The accounting information system is the basic tool for a company's external clients to evaluate its economic health as well as its future perspectives in terms of the investment allocated in resources, its financing sources and the results obtained. Therefore, it is imperative for students to acquire the appropriate knowledge and understanding of the Financial Statements to be able to analyze the impact of the socio-economic environment as well as the economic policy within the corporate activity. This includes not only the local effects but also the international effects too, thus the need of including in each of the topics the content related with the International Financial Reporting Standards also known as NIIFS. The business information that has both local and international scope, is the most important tool for assessing the economic health inside and outside of the country from the corporate point of view; hence, articulated with economic, financial, management, anthropological, ethical, legal and human topics, provide integral information to the future professionals, so that they can understand the socio-economic reality of the country and the whole world.
Course objectives:
To understand the concept of accounting as an information system and its numerous fields of action, as well as the understanding of the accounting principles and other concepts which integrate the basic Financial Statements of general purpose, and their uses and applicability for analyzing and understanding the economic status of any given company.
Evaluation:
The academic evaluation for the development of the course is based on articles 61, 64, 65 and 66 of the Academic Regulations of the
undergraduate programs established in the Academic Regime and are applied as follows:
8.1 Follow-up assessment (Art. 64): Follow-up has a value of 30%. This evaluation includes short tests, practical work and other evaluation
activities that are carried out during the development of the subject and both, together, constitute the qualification prior to the final exam.
8.2 Partial examinations (Art. 65): two examinations are carried out during the semester and each with a percentage of 20%
8.3 Final examinations (Art. 66): a test is carried out at the end of the semester according to the schedule made by the admissions
