Foundation of the course:
This is a Spanish communicative course whose specific goals are directed at students in the law enforcement fields that have had a minimum of 100 contact hours of college level Spanish and want to gain sufficient linguistic competence that will permit them to communicate with Spanish speakers in the specific context of their specific fields.
To give the students the necessary communicative tools to interact and obtain adequate information from Spanish native speakers in determine legal contexts.

9. Write articles, reports, stories, postal cards.

The base methodological framework of this course has a communicative focus, in which the contents of the transmission are a priority. For this reason, communication competency is the
result of the four linguistic skills and knowledge of the culture. The primary objective is to insure the development of linguistic competency such that the student will be capable of interviewing a Spanish speaker involved in a variety of situations which require the contact with police officers.
The structure of the course is thematic and to this end the linguistic aspects to be studied and the materials selected are in accordance with the theme of study and the needs of the student.
Strategies for Learning:
This course consists of two sections: The first section of Spanish (80 hours complete; for hours daily for four weeks) and the second section, which is defined as communication experience as a complement to the Spanish classes (20 hours complete, five hours per week). In this second section the students will participate in lectures, conferences about immigration subjects and multi-cultural communication.
As part of this program the students will participate in ?role playing? sessions that will involve actual Spanish speaking participants in which the students will put into practice the knowledge they?ve acquired in the classes.
