Overview
Continental Law and Common Law is a purely training course on the primary legal institutions and is taught in the first undergraduate semester. This course intends that the student understands and analyses the legal fundamentals of the primary legal institutions that are shaped from both Continental Law and Common Law legal systems. In this regard, it contributes significantly to Academic Excellence.
This course is mainly theoretical; nevertheless, it also employs the Case Method in order to illustrate concepts. It includes topics as fundamentals and operation of both Continental Law and Common Law legal systems, their differences and similarities, and their respective impact on the Law as a whole and notably on Peruvian Law. Further analysis of legal institutions in order to understand the origin and evolution of both legal systems is also given.
