Globalization and Society

Summary
The course analyzes globalization as an economic, political, social, and cultural phenomenon. It seeks to understand the effects of globalization on the gap between developed and developing countries; how it potentially intensifies inequality within countries; its impact on the quality of democratic governance and how it shapes the identity of local populations. Case studies will be used to demonstrate the impact of globalization on society, both in Latin America and in other regions of the world.
